Reimagined. Reconnected. History You Can Touch.
Immersive New Galleries Open April 6th, 2026.
At the Dobson Museum, visitors will find more than updated exhibits—they’ll discover a completely reimagined way to experience the story of Ottawa County.
Every gallery has been thoughtfully designed to feel more connected, more engaging, and more reflective of the people, places, and moments that shaped the region.

Built for Families, Designed to Engage
The Kids’ Learning Center
Children of all ages will have a ball in this interactive space—where history becomes something you can step into, not just read about.
Hands-on exhibits invite visitors to explore Ottawa County through play and imagination, including a Coleman Theatre picture station where guests can capture their own moment inside one of the region’s most iconic landmarks. Surrounding the space, engaging storefronts inspired by historic restaurants, retailers, and local shops recreate the look and feel of Ottawa County’s past—giving families a chance to experience the community as it once was.
It’s a space built to spark curiosity, encourage interaction, and make history feel both accessible and memorable for every generation.
More Than a Visit
This isn’t just a refreshed museum—it’s a more connected experience. One that invites you to move through history in a way that feels natural, personal, and worth revisiting.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, you’ll find something new to discover.
A Word from the Museum
“Reimagining these galleries has been about more than updating displays—it’s about creating a stronger connection between our community and its history,” said Jordan Boyd, Museum Director. “We’re grateful to the Ottawa County Historical Society, to River Hill, and to the many contributors who helped bring this vision to life. We’re excited to welcome visitors back and share what’s new.”
